Hello. My name’s Steven Starry from MadridTeacher.com and I’m going to talk about my diet.
I decided to go on a diet a couple of weeks ago. I weighed about kilos so I’m classified as obese. For my height, cm, anything over kilos is considered . Supposedly, I should weigh around kilos. Though I’m obese, I’m not physically inactive. I have had a for years and I do use it frequently. Except for one month, for the past months I’ve been doing from minutes per day 6 days a week.
However, I’ll be in July so it’s becoming more and more important that I do something about my weight problem as soon as possible. This has become more apparent to me because I have contact with a couple of other obese people my age who have had health problems recently. One of them had an expensive operation to remove part of his stomach and intestines a month ago and the other is considering a similar operation on the advice of his physician.
Such an operation would seem to be a bit too radical for me for the moment, but I can see the , meaning the evidence is overwhelming that this might be my last chance relatively speaking to make my own decisions over how my health shapes up in the future.
Don’t take any bets on the outcome of this endeavor! Diets have never been my strong point and I’ve been overweight all of my life. I’m resolved to do it right this time, but I’m obviously no expert. Besides my age and the of 30 years of failed diets, there are some other things which will likely make it more difficult for me. For instance, I’ve had a for 7 years now, but it seems to be about 80-90% in remission for the moment. I also developed a high of 242 a year and a half ago whereas before it used to be at around 183. I reduced this with statin-based , but then ceased taking it when I had reduced my cholesterol to about 210. I also drastically reduced my consumption of dairy products such as milk and cheese. Currently, I don’t take any medication except for a small aspirin every day. Also, I don’t smoke or drink.
I have no other health problems except for to dust and pollen, and possibly a heightened sensitivity to dry air and prolonged lack of sunlight, especially with regard to skin problems like , which may cause other adverse reactions. I tend to have my worst allergy problems in January and February, though these last till May in a lesser form. For the moment, knock on wood, I don’t have , though overweight people over 50 years of age tend to develop it.
My plan to lose weight is simple. Do more exercise and eat fewer calories while keeping as much as possible to the recommended daily allowance minimums nutritionally speaking. This is because extreme imbalances in past diets (such as low-carbohydrate diets) have even sent me to the hospital. However, in these past diets, I noticed that bread, macaroni, spaghetti and other wheat-based cereals and products were an enormous problem for me because they made me incredibly hungry for hours on end. When I don’t eat them, I don’t get hungry as easily. Some people tell me I could have an allergy to wheat, I don’t know. I used to try to ration the daily amounts I could consume of these products, but this time I decided to eliminate them almost altogether from my diet except for a daily 2 to 4 spoonfuls of , which is on the Mayo Clinic’s “10 great health foods for eating well.”
I’ll try to avoid taking any vitamin supplements
By the way, I have a few tools to work with. I have a Kettler XL Vito ski machine. I have a and an EKS . I have a few sets of , or light weights, because sometimes I do some aerobic exercises with light weights. I also have a couple of aerobic which I occasionally use. Probably the best tool I have is my Fitday diet management . I’ll talk about this software in my next activity.
That’s it for now. Thank you for listening.
