Last summer I spent my vacation in Asturias. I went there with my family: my husband and my 5 year old son. It’s a six hours trip, or better said 7 or 8 if you travel with a kid who gets dizzy and wants to stop every 30 minutes.
We rented an apartment in a rural hotel. The hotel had 3 floors and we lived on the top floor. Thanks to this fact we had two big ceiling windows in the bedrooms that allow us to watch the stars at night while lying down in bed. This hotel was close to Cangas de Onis, that’s why our first visit was there. We liked it a lot although the streets where really busy. We liked specially the Roman Bridge with the big cross hanging from it.
We went to 3 different beaches where our son enjoyed pretty much playing with the waves and with the fine sand. We bought him a really big shovel that he used to cave big holes and to build high sand hills. One of the beaches was in Ribadesella, it is a long a beautiful beach with a pleasant coast trail to walk. The other beach was a smaller one called La Franca and the last one was Rodiles a beach close to Villaviciosa with a picnic area surrounding by eucalyptus trees. We enjoyed walking along the coast and picking up shells. We got shells from every beach we went and we ended up having like 3 or 4 full buckets that we cleaned and organized when we got back at home.
We also walk around a few towns like Ribadesella, Llanes which has a beautiful grass coast trail called Paseo de San Pedro and Cangas de Onís with the historic bridge aforementioned.
We really enjoyed the trip and we would like to go back.
