Continuing the trail
By the way, it takes about an hour (and a heart attack) to walk
up to the Bola del Mundo via a trail that goes up to the right
little-by-little and then just shoots up the top. If you're
up for a big adventure, you can follow the Manzanares river
down on the other side all the way to Manzanares el Real via
"La Pedriza" in about 7 or 8 hours. (You can catch
a bus back to Madrid from there.) Get a map and better instructions
if you want to do that one. The trip's worth it! (I've done
it.)
A couple of views to the north on the way to the trail head.
See the ski lift.
This is some sort of residence or hotel for military personnel.
This is where the Camino Schmid starts. Can you see the sign
at bottom right?
You really don't get a feeling for how steep it is here.
As I was saying, the trail is as wide as the Gran Via in Madrid.
