The time-proven
principles of the Berlitz Method, a communicative teaching approach, are constantly enhanced with new and updated programs and the
latest learning technology. Our unique method means that our instructors do not need a TEFL or CELTA as Berlitz will provide them with all the training and support necessary to become a professional and successful instructor. And with our enormous international network of learning centers the opportunities to travel can be boundless.

Facilities and classrooms: Each centre
has an ample range of classrooms of differing sizes all
with black/white boards. DVD/Video/Audio Equipment and Computers
are available in each centre as well as additional materials.
Have good materials support, photocopier?
Berlitz has its own very extensive range of materials, as
well as extra language related resources available on-line.
In addition, each school also keeps a wide selection of
materials from various other publishers, and has a photocopier.
Have "Director of Studies" (DOS) support?
Each centre has an LIS (Local Instructional Supervisor)
whose job is to provide support to the teachers, give lesson
observations, and feedback. There is also a District Instructional
Supervisor to provide extra support for all the centres
in the area.
Qualification requirements for
employment? Candidates must be educated to degree
level. TEFL or CELTA is not required as instructors are
trained specifically in the Berlitz Method.

Experience requirements for employment?
Again due to the training no prior teaching experience is
needed.
Hire at a distance? For the normal school
year (September to June) we recruit locally (however there
can be some exceptions) for summer camp programs we sometimes
conduct initial telephone interviews.
Hire Americans and do their papers? We
will hire Americans but only if they have either obtained
papers previously or have dual nationality which allows
them to work in Europe.
Preference for British or Americans? There
is no preference. Our students request a variety of accents.
Estimated teachers hired yearly: The figures
vary greatly from year to year and centre to centre. We
currently have over 150 contracted teachers on our staff
of which perhaps 25 – 35% joined this year. We also collaborate
with a number of freelance teachers.
Teachers at Berlitz for over 4 years?
We have a large pool of teachers who have been with Berlitz
for a long period of time (some of which have been working
here for more than 20.)
Best part about working at Berlitz: There
are a number of great reasons to work at Berlitz. The finely
honed, user-friendly method developed over 128 years is
certainly one of them. Also, the feeling of working in a
large multinational alongside people from so many diverse
cultures, with such a variety of sources to draw on, makes
it an exciting, creative and dynamic environment while,
at the same time, maintaining a personal and friendly atmosphere.
Furthermore, our contracts offer a level of stability that
few others can.
Offer teacher training or development along with
job? Every teacher goes through an initial training
course. There are also additional on-line development modules,
lesson observations, feedback sessions, and workshops.
Starters' average salary?
We have a variety of six different contracts ranging from
small part-time up to full-time. They all offer a fixed
monthly salary along with paid holidays. The starting salary
for a full-time teacher is 1,080 euros per month plus a
bonus of 150 euros every three months. We also collaborate
with freelance teachers.
