dep.estudios@companyclass.com
Cell: 637929850
Address:
C/ Javea 10. 28231. Las Rozas. Madrid.
There is no school. Everything is done over the Internet
and phone.
Facilities and classrooms:
All the classes take place in companies. Teachers take the
materials they are used to working with. They take their
own books, their own listening materials, etc. The teachers
use their own method when teaching and they adapt to students´
needs. If they need information about new products in any
field, they will be informed by the rest of the teachers
or the director of Company Class. They try to stay up-to-date
on the latest in teaching. Teachers are provided with new
free material everyweek to use in their classes.
Have good materials support, photocopier?
Without an office, there's no place for a photocopier or
other materials. However, Company Class recently signed
a contract with two companies. One provides online listening
practice that is renewed every day. Teachers can use these
listening exercises as homework exercises. The online course
is more for students to use in conjunction with the classes.
The test evaluates the student and lets them know their
strengths and weaknesses. The teacher can then design the
class according to these test results. All students are
given a login and password to access these features.
Have "Director of Studies" (DOS) support?
Silvia de la Rosa is the main Director of Studies.
However, Lourdes Pomposo is both the founder of Company
Class and also a Director of Studies. She has both directed
English departments and coordinated teachers in other companies.
She has a degree in English Philology and 20 years experience
teaching English.
VIPs on staff?
Lourdes is also an author who has written several articles
for English magazines such as "Hot English Magazine"
and "Think in English."
Employment
Information:
Qualification requirements for employment?
Now Company Class is offering contracts with Social Security
and Insurance to all the teachers who have a work permit.
All the teachers who want to be hired are
required to have qualifications related to teaching English
as a second language (English Philology, Translation, Interpretation,
DELTA, CELTA, TEFL, etc) and be legally living in Spain.
However, a native speaker with good communication skills
and teaching experience, will be considered for employment.
Freelance teachers (“Autónomos”) have preference when choosing
classes. Having a car is a definite plus.
Experience requirements for employment?
Company Class requires three years of experience teaching
adults and doing company classes. Teachers must be dynamic
and committed to the students and their learning process.
The important thing is get the students to communicate in
good English. |

Hire at a distance?
Company Class never hires at a distance. All potential teachers
must be interviewed by Lourdes before being considered.
Hire Americans and do their papers? Both
American and European teachers are welcome as far as they
have legal papers to be hired. Preference for British or Americans?
There is no preference for one or the other. Occasionally
some students and companies will ask specifically for one
or the other.
Estimated teachers hired yearly:
The company has over 50 teachers on the roster and is growing.
This year they are expecting to reach 80 teachers.
Teachers at Company Class for over 4 years?
Most of the teachers have been with Company Class since
the beginning. The majority are autonomous who have other
fulltime jobs and earn a little extra teaching with Company
Class.
Number of students: Company Class supplies
40 companies, such as ING DIRECT, CERSA, SEUR, PANDA SOFTWARE,
SANITAS, and attracts new private students every day. This
year they are expecting to reach around 1,000 students.
Best part about working at Company Class:
There are several key benefits to working with Company Class:
1. You are given the students and informed of their level
and needs. After that you have complete independence. No
one tells you how to do your job. If the student is happy,
you continue to work. It’s simple. Once the student is yours,
it is your job to teach according to the students needs.
2. Teachers get paid at 20-22 euros an hour, this makes
company class one of highest paying jobs in Madrid. Just
don’t forget to pay your own Social Security.
3. You get lots of hours. Offers come in every day to your
inbox. You simply hit reply and the information is forwarded
to you right away. It’s very easy to find classes
that suit your schedule. You just take the classes you want,
because they fit your schedule or preferences.
4. The freedom and flexibility that company class offers
makes this a haven for freelancers or anyone who wants to
fill up small slots of time. Quality is an issue, so a requirement
is for teachers to have experience teaching adults and to
have good references. Their number of clients is growing
and one of their main goals is to keep their clients learning
with them.
5. Given the enormous amount of work and expense involved
in getting and maintaining company class clients, the offer
of classes is just about the most reasonable on the market
in Madrid.
Other benefits?:
Company Class occasionally organizes intensive weekends
in hotels with students. Approximately twice a trimester.
There is also the possibility of meeting other native teachers
in Madrid at the annual dinners.
Offer teacher training or development along with
job?
Teachers are informed via email of presentations of new
materials, seminars and jobs for teachers in Madrid. These
come around sporadically through out the year.
Starters' average salary?
Between 20 E/h and 24 E/h for free lance teachers. 17 for
teachers with a contract with Social Security and Insurance.
English teachers working in companies must sign a “Service
Contract” (or “contrato de arrendamiento de servicios”)
with Company Class and invoice them (not the clients) with
the corresponding IRPF (a type of taxes) every month as
is normal with just about all teachers working with agencies.
(The amount the teacher is paid is a percentage of what
the respective companies pay.)
