Community of Madrid photos

Without going into much depth, here's a bit of what you can see and do around the community around the city of Madrid itself. I know, I know, it's not anywhere near enough . . .

Valley of the Fallen:

The Valley of the Fallen is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the Community of Madrid. If you get the chance, go visit it. See more: Valley of the Fallen
El Escorial:

Coming all the way to Madrid without visiting the El Escorial is just shy of either criminal or plain stupid.

Sierra of Madrid
A few odd photos of the Sierra.

Lago de Polvoranca Photos
This is a large lake and park about half an hour south of Madrid in Alcorcón.

Mostoles Lake Photos
A beautiful park south of Madrid.

Castles of Alcorcón photos
It's not a super-castle, but if you're in the neighborhood. . .

San Martin de Valdeiglesias.
A little town in the southwest corner of the Community of Madrid. One of Madrid's most popular lakes, the Pantano de San Juan, is there.

Valleenmedio Campgrounds
This was my base camp towards the trail above where I took the photograph above of the Valley of the Fallen. You need a car to get there, but you can also access the trail from Camping El Escorial (A 1.5-hour trip from Madrid - the bus drops you a 5-minute walk from the campgrounds.)

Valley of the Fallen Trail
The trail we took to get the same photo. The walk from Camping El Escorial wouldn't be just a Sunday stroll in the park.

La Pedriza
A beautiful natural park. It takes 15-25 minutes from Manzanares el Real to get to the entrance of the park.
