Children can learn a lot of English with books for native
speakers of English. A lot of books for children published in
English in England and the United States have very clear didactic
objectives apart from being very fun to read. Children's books
can teach the present and past simple as well as the ability
to listen and read.
Dr. Seuss has not been very well known by children in Spain
till now in March of 2008. Thankfully, the new Horton
Movie will change all of that. I remember reading many
of the Dr. Seuss books as a child 35 years ago and I was so
excited as a father and an English teacher to see them now
available in print in Madrid, Spain. I immediately went to
Madrid to the book shop "Kiriku y La Bruja" to get
the classic "Green Eggs and Ham" and "One
fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish." (See more shops

so fun, and I am happy because he is motivated to read them
and listen to the CDs, and because he is practicing the present
simple in both of these books. It's incredible how good "Green
Eggs and Ham" is for teaching the present simple, etc.
My boy loves it. It's great.
Each of the books in this series is a story. Each story is
accompanied by a CD. Children can listen and read the stories
at the same time. The stories are great for English learning
and, again, my child loves them. Here is a copy of the pamphlet
from "English and Me:"
Wipe Clean series from "Priddy Books"
"English & Me" also distributes a series of
books called the "wipe clean" series because you
can write in the books with a special whiteboard marker and
then clean the book off after that. You can find some of these
books in the shops below.
I now have the book on the left, but there are many other books
in the series. This book helps me to teach my son how to tell
the time, and in English.
English & Me
"English & Me" is a distributor that imports
and distributes books to a variety of little shops throughout
Spain including 10 just in Madrid, Spain, and many more in
Catalunya (see: Catalunya

you go to a shop to make sure they actually have it.
