Privet tree - aligustre - Photos.

As you will see below, the (Common) Privet tree is greatly appreciated alongside other very beautiful trees like the Sycamore, the Cypress (sempervivens) and the Magnolia. You can find it right in the middle of many of the best parks in Madrid.

Latin: Ligustrum Vulgare

Privet trees in parks and along streets

The first photo shows a line of privet trees on the left in the Plaza de Oriente (between the Royal Palace - Royal Palace Photos - and Opera - Opera Photos). You can see some other privet trees in the Plaza de España in the second photo. (Plaza de España Photos) The third photo is a shot of the same group of trees as in the second. The fourth photo was taken in the park below the Castles of Alcorcón. (Lago de Polvoranca Photos).

Privet Tree

The first Privet tree is in the Plaza de Oriente. The second one is in the park under the Castles of Alcorcón. The third one is on the northwest corner of the Glorieta de Bilbao. (Metro Bilbao) You'll rarely see them as tall as this one in Madrid. You can see a big difference between the first and the third trees due to the first tree's being helped by pruning.

Privet flowers

The Privet tree flowers in July (early summer or late spring), which is just right for most summer tourists.

Privet leaves

The Privet tree's leaves have just one point and smooth edges.

Privet fruit

A photo of the fruit on a Privet tree in the Plaza de España.

Privet trunk

The Privet tree on the left (the one above in the Plaza de España) is a bit older than the one on the right (the one above in the park just under the Castles in Alcorcón).
