Catalpa tree - Photos.

The Catalpa tree is pretty common in Madrid because of how beautiful it is. This is a fast growing tree, but it doesn't last longer than 100 years. The Catalpa sometimes reaches 8-12 metres in Madrid. It flowers in July. It's originally from the southeast in the USA.

Latin: Catalpa Bignonioides

Catalpa Tree

The first two photos are of Catalpa trees in the Retiro park. The last two photos are of Catalpa trees on a street lined with Catalpas in Alcorcón.

Catalpa leaves

The Catalpa tree's leaves are large and heart-shaped.

Catalpa fruit

It's difficult to make a mistake when identifying this tree because of its long cigar-shaped fruit. You can see them hanging down from a distance.

Catalpa trunk

The dark and dirty trunk of a slightly leaning Catalpa tree on a polluted city street.
