The Magnolia flowers in late Spring and into the summer.
Each flower lasts only 5 or 6 days and falls off to reveal
the fruit below.

The fruit are rather large and heavy and fall off the tree
easily.

Notice the brown undersides of these leaves. Not all of the
Magnolias that I've seen have these so perhaps it's because
there are hybrid varieties.
