Why don't you start by contracting Legalitas if you can (the language problem you know) and work your way up from there? I've had and used Legalitas for years for lots of legal problems for both myself as an "autónomo" and for my family and they've always been very helpful. What I mean is that if you don't know what to do or where to get a "gestor," for example, you can always get their recommendation without any problem I should think.
Tax inspection anyone? (an old post)
To everyone who would say to a possible inspection or audit
by Hacienda (Spain's tax service): "bah, it can't happen
to me", well let me tell you, it's happened to me. When
I heard about it coming up, I wasn't too worried though, because
I've got my books in order.
Why did they call me in? Maybe, because one of my clients last
year didn't declare my "factura" (my invoice) from December
of 2004 till February or March of 2005, and on top of it, they
declared that they had paid me more than they actually had.
So, maybe the numbers didn't quite add up and presto! Or, it might have been
because my "administrator" checked the box wrong and
put me in for one thing instead of another.
In any case, my "administrators" went in to take
care of the problem at the main Hacienda office at Guzman el
Bueno and everything turned out just fine. We got all our money
though a bit late. The funny thing is that they told us to put
in for another 5% on our income tax retrurns because we were
eligible for something else we hadn't put on there.
What about having a "Gestor" do your papers? We know
about the problems with doing your own books, but we're doing
them anyway. Don't ask me why, but we're doing those books anyway.
My father-in-law is a retired administrator and he tells us we're
better off doing them because it helps to keep all your papers,
receipts, etc. in order, in case of an inspection. I suppose it's
the same thing to have a "gestor" take care of it for you, but
if they "scerw" it up and you get caught, you are still the one
that has to pay the fine. Anybody know what the fine would be?
It's not a trick question. I just don't know. (Post recovered

Poster: I went directly to a "Gestoría" and they did all the footwork
and paper-filing for me. I just showed up to sign the papers and hand
in my receipts and bills. Perhaps this is a more expensive way to
do it, but I felt more comfortable having someone take care of minor
tax details, etc. (Post recovered from hacked forum, March 26, 2005)
It's a good idea to use a "Gestoría / Asesoría".
A Gestoría is a company is a management company, which
will help you do a lot of your paperwork. An Asesoría
is a consultant and management company.
A recommended Gestoría
