Vallecas Photos

Tainted by a bad reputation, Vallecas is shunned by most people who come to visit Madrid. In this area which is as big as a middle-sized town you cannot only find areas of seedy appearance but also some that, even if not attractive for tourists, are nice places to live. Below you will find some pictures of the southern end of Vallecas, the area called “Villa de Vallecas”.

  

A village in former times, it has not yet lost its original character. The heart of this area is the “Paseo Federico García Lorca” with numerous small shops. What strikes me most is the absence of famous brands. Here, you will look in vain for a McDonald’s or a Burger King and none of the big megastores has entered this area so far.
